Here is a picture of a quilt in progress. Almost finished, then I can add the border and do more quilting. The second one is of a table insert my hubby made for my free arm. Had seen it in Nancy's notions book for $79.00 He made me one much cheaper out of 1/2 inch oak and I covered it with contact paper. I don't know why I never thought of that years back

Your quilts are beautiful, Dose your hubby have the pattern/instructions for the freearm insert that he made you. Ex: What did he use for the legs? How thick is the oak he used? |
Rebecca
This is how my husband made the table top for my free arm. The measurments are 18X24 inches. He used 1/2 inch thick Oak plywood finished on both sides ( you can use any type of plywood) He tracedout the measurments to fit around my machine on paper first then on the board. The legs are from 1 inch wooden dowels cut to height minus he screwed on adj. feet he found in the hardware dept. The top fits even with my machine, and is easy to remove. I covered it with contact paper to give it some class. Nancy Notions catolog ( which you can find on line at www.nancysnotion.com ) has it shown in plexiglass. Good luck. it makes it so much nicer, especially when sewing smaller pieces, it's not droping off the ends of the machine. If you have any other questions, please PM me at home Barb |
Great Idea on the sewing machine table. Your quilts are beautiful too.

Pat, The name of the Blue/white qyuilt is "Pinewheels" the updated version of the traditional Drunkard's Path. This one has no curved seams. The pattern can be found in "More Quick Rotary Cutters Quilts . Pam Bono Design.
I just finished layering the Morning Star wall hanging by Eleanor Burns. So another one to quilt. I will take this one along with me camping this summer This is the one I was fretting about over the weekend. Yvonne and Lesse helped me out on Chat Morning Star |
Barb it came out great. Yvonne and Lessle are such great help

Barb,
Your quilt is looking pretty spectacular! Way to go. I'm glad you figured out how to make those geese fly properly! I was just throwing out suggestions. You were the one that manipulated the rulers and fabric so I think you can take all the credit here. We'll be looking forward to seeing the final product. Thanks for giving us a progress picture here. By the way, is this pattern in one of Eleanor's books? If so, which book? Just curious. |
Yes it is from the Eleanor Burns Book. Quilt in a Day "Quilts throught the seasons. I found a couple more I would like to do, but, I will get the ruler before I do more of those DUMB Geese LOL. I am sure the ruler will make it a lot easier.

Beautiful work, Barb.

Barb, thanks for the info. I love your Morning Star ! Great job. I have just returned from Paducah, KY tonight. Earlier today I stopped in at Eleanor Burns new shop. She had 3 different sizes of Flying Geese rulers everywhere!!! I went to the AQS Quilt show for the 1st time. It was awsome. I, of course, spent too much on 3 new types of projects, but I'm eager to get started. It was like being a kid again in a candy store, it was great. I am adding the book "More Quick Rotary Cutters Quilts" to my list of must find. Thanks again, Pat
