Bargello 1/4 done

1 Attachment(s)
I designed a Bargello from a free Bargello program. So far it has been fun, but also a lot of work. I have designed Bargellos before, but then I just sort of made it up as I went along. This time I just designed what I wanted and pushed print. :)

It has, however, taken me forever to get 1/4 of it done. Soooooo....I just have to show someone. :) Thanks for looking.

I hope a bargello is in my future, but I will have to rely on someone else's pattern! Yours is lovely.

Thanks, everyone. Here is where it is at now. Just pretend the ten strips to the right are sewn together and you might be able to visualize what 1/2 of the top, minus borders, will look like. (I know that is what I am trying to do.:) )

Love the color choices and the design, makes me think Native American-ish with a modern spin.

quilterpurpledog 02-03-2017 09:08 AM

Perfect start with wonderful colors. Keep going. Getting to one's destination is one step at a time.

Yeah, I just don't seem to be happy unless purple is involved. :) You have a good memory...

Hot Rod sure appreciates being remembered. :) I tried to get him to pose, but....if you look carefully in the chair to the right of the picture, you can see the tops of his ears.... he is facing the back of the chair. So my 18 pound cat quilt inspector is sort of on the job. Sort of... (I couldn't get him interested in the second picture I posted at all though.)

Wow! That's going to be one beautiful quilt. Don't forget to post a picture when it's done.

Momala24 02-04-2017 10:51 AM

And the reason it has taken forever is because it is so exquisite! Good for you, it is amazing!

Gladly!!! When I first posted this picture, I put the thread in Main, along with a link to the program. However, my thread was moved to Links and Resources.....which I didn't even know existed. So, then I posted to Pictures without the link.

So, I am delighted to include the link. I am not really computer literate, and I have never used a design program, and I switched from a Mac to a PC right before my son downloaded the Bargello design program for me. He had to walk me through quite a bit of it, but I did finally figure it out. If I can, anyone can. It is, at the very least, fun to play with, and I have learned a lot with this first quilt from the program. I know a lot of things I will do differently next time. :)

But, here is the link. (Edited....I just went and looked at the Link and Resources thread, and two folks there have had trouble downloading the softwear. I know next to nothing about how to do that, and my son did it for me. One quilter said her Norton security program said the program was a risk and the other said that after she downloaded it, her computer wouldn't start. She ended up deleting it. So....I don't know if you want to mess with this or not. It is a shame. I am having a great time with it....but guess I am lucky? I was using the McGruff security program when it was downloaded, but my husband switched my computer to another one when that ran out. Don't know if any of that makes a difference, nor do I know what security system is now on my laptop....here at my house, I just raise my hand if I have a computer concern and either my son or husband takes over... )

(Okay, edited again. I just went to the site and it said "free downloads for Windows 2000, XP,VISTA, Windows 7 and Windows 8. I must have one of those and the two quilters who had problems didn't? There were two other responses from quilters who had downloaded the program and didn't mention any problems. .... and I am through editing now. :) )
