Went to a local barn sale in RI on Sat. They had a treadle for 45.00...nice shape with a Redeye in it...After yrs of antiqueing and lifting and carrying and now selling all my collections I gave it the lift test...My new rule is if I can't lift it I'm not buying...Couldn't and walked away.
What I did see was a basket full of Vintage Quilting sqs but for whatever reason just not in the mood to stand in the long line to pay. All Sat. I thought abt those sqs. So hoping I went back Sun morning to see the Treadle was now marked down to 39...still walking away, gave it another lift test. And the basket was untouched with all the pieces I'd seen on Sat. Grabbed them all up and this is what I got for 13.00. |
Great find.

I feel the same way, why not me. But I have faith my day will come. |
$13.00!! What a great deal! Do the extra blocks have enough for you to make the quilt a bit bigger? What are your plans, and please post a picture once it's complete and quilted!

And, you walked away from a red-eye treadle for $39???? I understand the reasoning behind the walking but OH - THAT HURT! Great blocks however ..............

That's wonderful. My grandma made me a bowtie when I was little. I can never find anything like that. They always want a small fortune for things I find. Even at my other grandmother's sale. Couldn't buy anything. Antique dealers were there and ran up the price of everything. She had crazy quilts on flours sacks going for $1000 and up.

What a great deal, and I'm so glad these blocks found a home and didn't get tossed away!
