batik applique

I have a pile of these.I need to pick a background -then my grand daughter will pick the layout for these. This will be very different from anything I have done yet. They make a random trail on a neutral background-a large block.

Can't wait to see what it will look like once done!
l love to see creative ideas....

Neat shapes! I see a whole lot of appliqué in your future. :)
Very interesting shapes. Please post next steps!
Looks like the beginning of a very pretty and unique quilt! I love the fabrics!
Beautiful fabrics ~ can't wait to see the finished quilt!
Those are sewww cool, can hardly wait to see the finished product.
This looks interesting. Looking forward to seeing the end result.

Looking very exciting! Yes, please post your steps!
Interesting idea, looking forward to seeing your quilt when it's done.
I would use a very light colored batik for the background. Since you have black in some of them, I would be afraid some of the pieces would fade into the background.
the colors are gorgeous
I am thinking black would make these really stand out. Have to post it once finished.

Beautiful fabrics....the colour palette looks fantastic....I will watch with great interest (and may I say...It looks like a tricky one).
Great shapes and fabrics!!! I would think you would need to audition several fabrics for this task. I am inclined to think of a dove grey, a greyish mild green or a light beige. Perhaps an old rose even. I want to see what you do with this. Do all the backgrounds need to be the same? Some of those shapes would do really well on black.
Like everyone else, I can't wait to see the finished quilt! It's very interesting :D
very interesting looking Can'twait to see the layout Keep us posted!
Pretty fabrics-interested in seeing finished project!
looks very interesting... can't wait to see the results
These look a lot like ones in a Piece o Cake design that I made. I used a neutral background by Mark Lipinski's Home. Most of mine were pink and purple, so I used a very pale lilac.
Looks wonderful! Did you cut all those out, or did you purchase them that way?
oooohhh this is going to be beautiful!!! :)
Interesting! Can't wait to see what you come up with!
Oh, these are AWESOME! Can't wait to see what you do with this project!
Pretty colors, were they cut with an accu-cut?
I can't wait to see the finished quilt. You always do such good work! I think a white background would really make the colors pop. A dark background might give it a dramatic feel...if the colors wouldn't get lost. You should lay some of the pieces out on some background fabrics & take pictures to see how each color works.
Beautiful batiks. I cannot wait to see the finished quilt.
For background how about a pastel that had different shades running through, the kind you barely see the color.
Oh how much fun you'll have arranging them! Please post a pix.
Yes, I too want to see pictures of this,, I do like batiks on black but I agree that some of them would be lost,, just have to audition your bg fabric.. It is very neat
I want to see how theses go together .... hurry please with that picture. LOL
Those are so pretty. I can't wait to see it finished. :)
Wow! Love the colors and I can't wait to see it finished.
I agree with everyone else. I would love to see it when it is finished. Josie
