The pantograph pattern is of a "flying half square triangle", sort of....I'll have to see if I can get a better picture of it.

JJean 12-01-2009 01:35 PM

It's lovely. Makes me wish I could enter the drawing. ;)

Yvonne 12-01-2009 02:39 PM

It is indeed a beauty! I hate it when I make something to give away and then want to keep it. But that's what we learned in kindergarten, to share! I'm making a third copy of a quilt that I wanted and haven't been able to hang on to. This one will be MINE! I hope!
Time to make yourself one of these too, I think. It's wonderful.

littlehud 12-01-2009 02:59 PM

That is an awesome quilt. I would want to keep it too.

mjsylvstr 12-01-2009 03:43 PM

JLJACK...PERHAPS YOU WILL WIN IT BACK IN THE DRAWING..

When making it, the blocks are fairly easy, but you have to follow the photos to place the blocks to get the effect. I ended up making a copy of the photo and numbering the places where the blocks go to get the pattern right. You'll notice that every block has twin, and they have to be placed in the right place to get the square, square look.

I love how it came out, too. Hope you find it as easy as I did.

The pattern is called Illusion in Neutrals.

jljack 12-01-2009 05:44 PM

Thanks, MaryJane....I do hope I win it back!!! My ticket will be in there with everyone else's!!

jojo47 12-01-2009 05:58 PM

jljack, I love the quilt, and I know the magazine you speak of. I just can't find my copy right now. (I'm trying to get my sewing room re-organized...some of my things I've 'organized' TOO well and can't find them back...yet!

Our department dinner was tonite....and no, I did not win the quilt back. But the winner was a very nice young woman who I know and like (even better!!), and I am very happy with who the winner is. I must admit that there was a lot of pre-drawing trash talking going on among some of the ladies..."if you win it, you better RUN to your car!!!" "If you win it, there'll be a fight in the parking lot!" LOL It was all in good fun, and there was no actual hair pulling, but several pouting faces after the drawing.

All in all, it was a great experience for me to do this quilt. And thank you all for your kind compliments. Janice

ScubaK 12-05-2009 01:04 AM

I'm glad your lovely quilt went to a good home. She will enjoy it, I'm sure.

Boston1954 12-05-2009 07:11 AM

Wonderful. You did a great job. I like quiet tones as much as the deeper richer ones. You MUST take a picture of the person who wins. I want to see his/her face.

Harmony 12-05-2009 07:29 AM

That's a very polished, sophisticated-looking quilt! Beautiful!

beachlady 12-05-2009 10:06 AM

That quilt is soooo beautiful. Going to have to look for tat magazine. I too think you should make another one - and then send it to me!

sewjoyce 12-05-2009 06:27 PM

So sorry you didn't get to keep your quilt!!! But at least you know that it went to a nice home where it will be loved :D

Yes...it's in the American Patchwork and Quilting Dec 2009 magazine.

Oh, and the topper is that we drew names for our gift exchange at work, and the young woman who won the quilt is also my gift exchange person!!! It's a God thing, I think!! ;)

Tiffany 12-05-2009 09:56 PM

That is a stunning quilt! Wow!!!!

To use my batiks, I used the pattern called Stepping Stones in American Patchwork and Quilting, October 2009. It measures about 33 x 24. It turned out well!

paintedquilt 01-06-2010 03:46 PM

Do you or anyone else know where you can buy good quality Batik fabrics online? My LQS has few selections.
Thanks,

If you google batik fabric you come up with a good list of sources. Also search eBay, looking for Hoffman, Kaufman or other good brand name batiks on the market. You'll find lots. Thanks for the compliment!!!

It actually was given away in December....and the young woman who won it was thrilled. I was really happy for her.
