It's stunning Charlotte! The embroidery really adds sparkle to the already beautiful fabrics. Like the adding machine tape idea...I bought a heap of spools from a local pharmacy...50cents per roll...they were keen on me buying more as they had dozens and no one was interested in buying them. Should have seen their faces when I told them why I was buying them.:)

A beautiful quilt. I love the colors and the embroidery really makes the whole thing sing. The binding adds yet another dimension. Great job.

I loved this so much when I saw it earlier today that I have started one of my own and already have three blocks done. I haven't made a crazy quilt before, but I really recommend it. It's a nice break from having to line up all the points and seams of the other kind of blocks and its really fun.

You've made a masterpiece!

That is a beautiful quilt! You can see how much love and time you put into it with all the different stitching and fabrics. I love the "crazy" binding. A small touch that sets off the finished quilt. Congratulations on finishing it. I'm sure your daughter will love it.

Great job! Very pretty!
|
Good job. The embroidery really adds to it but what a lot of work. Your daughter will love it.
|
Thank you everyone for your kind comments. I did enjoy making it, I learned a great deal about Crazy Patch, about some of the stitches on my Bernina, and how to use the Bernie better. And I will now part with the quilt, and I don't know if I would have the patience to make another one, but i sure would like to have one.

All I can say is WOW!!!!! I love it. Adopt me, please.

|
What more can I say that hasn't already been said ..... I agree with all the above comments. Thanks for sharing the details .... great inspiration!
|
that is an awsome quilt, did you embroider this after the batting and backing went on or did you embroider the blocks?
|
I did foundation piecing onto muslin, did the embroidery, then pieced the quilt, sandwiched and tied the squares sitting at the kitchen table watching 4 versions of Criminal Minds (by the way watching more than one of these is way too many), then quilting in the sashing and did SID around the squares, then used adding machine tape to make the inner border, quilted the borders with stippling, then made the binding by sewing together random sizes of batik strips, then cut that into strips, and sewed them together to get my 400+inches of binding. I got wiser with the pillow shams and did the tying with using the machine and doing bartacks. much faster for the smaller pillow shams. Would have been cumbersome to do the whole quilt that way.. Once again, thank you everyone for your kind words.

Very pretty! Love all the fancy stitches! :)

Wow! I love your quilt. Let's hope that your daughter appreciates the endless hours that you spent putting it all together and the beautiful embroidery. It truly a gift from the heart and will be cherished and passed down to generation after generation. Be sure to add an unique label to it. Thanks for sharing.

I am working on the label. I have created it, but have had my granddaughters here this weekend, so haven''t stitched it out. But I have a little time before Christmas to get it done. I will use the fabric from the backing which is dark blue, with white stitching.
