This design came from our guild's Vice-Presidents' Day project and since I wanted to start using my large collection of batiks, this seemed the perfect place to start! The original design did not include the sashing but it helped to calm down the busy-ness of the multi-colored fabrics. I just kept sewing and didn't realize that I had a total of 84 blocks, and then I only used 42 of them for this queen-sized quilt. Now I not only still have a big box of batiks, but I have another quilt top to put together! My long-arm quilter suggested this quilting design which was new to her - Waitomo is the name of a group of caves in New Zealand famous for glow-worms!
