I like them all. They would be great for doing a sunset scene.

SandyinZ4 09-06-2010 07:32 PM

I would love FG's of all except Harvest. It just does nothing for me. Hope we all helped you out with decisions!

A big thank you to everyone who commented on the batik pictures.

Now the tricky question...

Nicely done batiks are probably the most expensive fabrics for a shop to buy.

Would $8.50 / yard be too much to ask, do you think?

Be honest please. I don't want to make a mistake...

I would be willing to buy 1/2 yards at the $4.25 price and that way I could buy several colors.

Favorite Fabrics 09-07-2010 07:42 PM

Our minimum cut has always been 1/4 yard... that way you can afford to play with even more!

But mostly, we decided on the 1/4 yard cut so that you don't have to buy more than you really need. Most of us have limited space (and limited funds).

fireworkslover 09-07-2010 08:00 PM

I've paid as little as $5.99/yd and as much as $15.00/yard, so $8.50 sounds very reasonable to me.

angieh1964 09-07-2010 08:09 PM

the vintage is to die for!

sewsilly 09-07-2010 08:49 PM

Hey, I'm from Canada... $8.50 /yard seems like a great price!

Geta 09-07-2010 09:49 PM

I like them all ! I have 2 yards of Primary !

QuickStitch 09-07-2010 11:36 PM

All of them but the primary. They are beautiful.

I LOVE all of them except the first one and the last two.

sewhip 09-07-2010 11:50 PM

well i love them all, but i like the pansy best. even if more expensive, they would be affordable in clothing if to expensive for quilts.

JustBonnie2 09-08-2010 06:10 AM

The price I've seen for batiks in quilt shops is usually between $9 and $10.

bsktkeeper 09-08-2010 06:30 AM

May I have 2 yds of primary . Please.

I bought small amounts of JoAnn's batiks. Some were over $10 for full yard. But I could't resist the fabrics. Not everyone will be looking for a huge quantity most likely. $8.50 sounds reasonable.

quilterscorner 09-08-2010 06:50 AM

love all of them for different projects

8.50 would be a great price for quality batiks-I'd buy them, for that

I love them all but top 7 are my favorites, more the top 5.

I would love a stack of FQs.....one of each batik shown.
I find the quality of fabric at LQSs to be MUCH better than other places. I don't mind paying if I am getting quality. So many people ask me where I buy my fabrics as you can really telll I buy beautiful, quality fabric. It's like baking a cake with poor ingredients or high quality ingredients. Your CAN tell the difference. I would advise you to be sure the QUALITY of the batiks is a good quality. Put me on the list as a purchaser! Good luck to you!

brookemarie19 09-08-2010 12:23 PM

I love them all!!! I guys if I would have to pick one it would be emerald though. What are they for?

Good quality batiks are at least $8.50 per yd. I would certainly pay that if I needed a certain color, but if I want to add to my stash I'd wait until it goes on sale. And thanks for offering 1/4 yd cuts. I've found I can usually get what I need from 1/4 yd & I don't add so much to my stash/scrapbasket. Besides the scrappy look is so "Chic".

carhop 09-09-2010 04:57 AM

I would have to pay that or more any where I get cloth from I would get at least 1/4 of each

bsktkeeper 09-09-2010 07:28 AM

I have paid a lot more than $8.50 /yd for good Batiks ,especially in Nappanee,In. It's well worth it when you see the finished quilt. So 8.50 is very reasonable to me.

The rep's coming this afternoon, so I'll be placing my order. Thank you all, very much, for the helpful comments and suggestions. I'll post which ones I ordered later (probably tomorrow). Those of you who actually want to place an order please PM me.

Right now I'm off to our local Panera to buy treats for when the rep comes. This person is rather special to me, as he's the first rep who ever deemed us worthy of a visit. (Reps have limited time on the road and have to choose carefully how to spend that time.) I haven't seen him in several years as he's been battling liver cancer, and this might well be the last time I see him. His wife will be taking over the sales business for him, and it will be my first time meeting her. Have to put on a proper welcome, right?

Shorebird 09-12-2010 04:48 PM

The ONLY one I do not LOVE is the Primary colored one....all of the rest are absolutely BEAUTIFUL in my mind...thanks for sharing.

jm831 09-13-2010 05:59 PM

I like the Harvest and the Emerald

Joanie2 09-14-2010 08:32 AM

Not a homely one in the bunch. I love them all! I am partial to blues & teals but, honestly, they are all beauties!

Favorite Fabrics 09-14-2010 08:45 AM

This is depressing... the rep didn't have any samples to look at, because the fabrics were TOO NEW! So all that's available to look at, for now, is the pictures that I posted.

We did have a nice long talk, so when the samples do come out (which I will probably not get to see :-( ) ... I can ask some good questions along the lines of "exactly what colors are in that one" and "how wide are those bands of color, anyway?"

(sigh)

fireworkslover 09-29-2010 06:21 PM

I don't care for Primary but love the rest.

hperttula123 09-29-2010 06:24 PM

All of them...lol. They are all wonderful

nana pat 10-01-2010 12:59 AM

Ohhh! I love them all. I do have just a leeeetle bit of room in my stash drawer if you want to get rid of them. LOL

My Cat's Belle 01-12-2011 11:03 AM

I think there is a place for all of them. I really coouldn't decide on a favorite.
Susan

tealfalcon 01-12-2011 11:41 AM

Carribean is my dav but they are all nice

Sandi19 01-12-2011 02:14 PM

I love all of them, except the Harvest. Someone else would probably like it, I just don't care for those colors together. They are gorgeous fabrics. Batik is my favorite.

Deedles 01-12-2011 06:41 PM

I like them all, except the pumpkin, in the order you have them.
