This is the first quilt I have ever made for myself! Have made several for the kids and others, though!

I'll be handquilting this one.

Helovesme 03-16-2012 06:38 AM

It's beautiful yeah for you! Really, you did a great job.

Grandma Bonnie 03-16-2012 06:42 AM

Great job on a beautiful quilt! Please show it when you are done hand quilting it!

pacquilter 03-16-2012 06:47 AM

I really love it with just the green and that neutral batik. In this case, less is definitely more! I think that your choice to hand quilt is right, because this one will really show it off!

This is exactly what I was thinking - what beautiful fabrics, so simple and yet just gorgeous.

Beautiful quilt. Love the colors and fabrics that you chose. You did a wonderful job. Thank you for sharing.

This is a great quilt and it gave me a solution to a quilt I've been wanting to make. My nephew is graduating from Baylor in May, and I really wanted to make him a Baylor quilt. Their colors are green and gold, and they are the Baylor Bears, so the bear paw pattern would be perfect. I wanted it to be a quilt that he could enjoy for years to come, and that would be good for a guy, and this is perfect!! Thanks so much for sharing your quilt with us. Kathy

Dianemarie 03-16-2012 03:11 PM

Oopsie do I see the top left hand block - top left of the block upside down ? Not being a quilt police ! Just wanted you to know before you quilted it ! Or is it a humility block ?

playswithcolor 03-16-2012 03:16 PM

Looks great Kim! Enjoy the quilting process. You got the border on just in time for St. Patricks day. Do you have an Irish background?

This has always been one of my favorite blocks and you certainly did it proud. Really like the two color idea. Eager to see it completed.

Wow that's really pretty. I recently did a mystery quilt that turned out to be bear claws I did it as a scrappy wasn't impressed still haven't finished it. I think I am going to make doll quilts from the blocks and bring them to school for housekeeping area. But yours are beautiful. Thanks for sharing gives me a whole new outlook on this block!

How awesome that my quilt has inspired you! and your son will love any quilt you make him (as long as it's not too girly lol)!

Kim Bohannon 03-20-2012 10:08 AM

Playswithcolors... I don't know if I have an irish background, but my grandmother suspects I do... We are not sure... lol... i'm a little bit of just about everything! lol

for all of you asking if I am going to fix the mistake, I'm not... I'm going to leave it there and enjoy how it adds a twist to the quilt... adding an applique bear is a good idea! I'll post whole quilt again when It's done being quilted.
