Before I knew better!
2 Attachment(s)
I made this quilt years ago, when I was a novice. I think it turned out okay for not knowing what I was doing. I did the blanket stitch around each dresden with grey thread - ha ha. I didn't know to match the thread to the fabric at that time. Same with the flowers. Sorry the pic is sort of blurry. :o

WOW! If you didn't know what you were doing, I'd like to see what you are doing now! This is a beautiful quilt. Are you going to the Sisters Quilt show? If so, I plan to go and may see you there.

I think you did a great job. I really like that pattern. Very pretty.
there is no rule that says you must match your thread to the colors of the fabrics. it's a great quilt!!!
It looks beautiful. I love your fabric and color combinations too.
I think you did a good job. Looks great.
That is absolutely gorgeous! What a beautiful Dresden Plate pattern! I love the appliqué. I am so glad you shared it with us!

love the colors.
very nice quilt.
Non matching threads just make a pattern stand out better - just my opinion
nicely done... love the color combo

I think you did a great job. Thanks for sharing.
Ditto what lue said.
You say that is the work of a novice??? HA!! Looks fantastic!
Looks pretty dang good to me for not knowing what you were doing!

Nice quilt. Love the applique and colours.

For a starter quilt it came out fantastic!

Beautiful quilt, thread is okay. Wonderful work.
I agree with lue and would like to see your quilts now that you "know what you are doing!"

Love the colors and pattern. Nice job.
Actually if you hadn't told me I would not have known, its beautiful.
What a great first quilt. Sometimes we surprise ourselves when we just jump in making a quilt without someone telling us we're not good enough or have enough experience to make. You go girl. Can't wait to see what you're doing now - I'm sure it's amazing.
Very lovely. You should be very pleased with this quilt.
Nice quilt. Good job.
I like you quilt. Way too well done to be called novice. Would love to see some of your current work if this was don when you didn't know what you were doing!
You have some really great instincts. Wish I could do so well when starting out. That one is a treasure. Hope you have a label on it showing it was your first

What she said!!! lol |
nice quilt!
I like, nice job.
D |
I think it looks great
No need to worry about matching the thread to the fabric! I do a lot of times, but only because it hides my mistakes! I'm hoping to get good enough to use decorative thread.
Very nice quilt!!! A dresden plate is on my quilting bucket list and as I am a fairly new quilter I was wondering if you trim the material out from behind the dresden plate so it doesn't get to thick??? I am a hand quilter so I have concerns of being able to quilt through to many layers.
love your quilt, love your color choices, too!
A dresden plate quilt would be too much for me, but would love to make just as yours! thanks for sharing! |
Novice???? It is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
