I saw this baby at a window of a local pond shop today. Wait! Correction! I was driving, DH saw it and when we were coming back home he was driving and pulled over to show me. The shop was closed so I took the pic from outside the glass. It looks a little rusted and it was for sale for $10.00. Have anyone see this one before?

No the only Bel Air I had heard of was a car. Will be interesting to hear more about it

CarrieAnne 06-15-2010 06:29 PM

Probably not. I will be moving soon and don't know how much space I will have to store it. As it is I already have 2 Berninas, a Featherwieght, a Singer treadle, a serger and a Brother embroidery machine. I sew a lot and end up using all my machines, but I may pass on it.

I think you mean pawn shop? Not pond shop...I was thinking what, a pond shop selling sewing machines?? Then I figured it out;>

I've never heard of Bel Air machines before but I sure like the color! Red is my favorite.

I would buy it. It won't take up THAT much space. It's really cool and only $10.. If I were there, I'd get it.

On Wednesday, DH took our son to school and took longer than usual. I was getting worried when I saw him pull over. I went out and came into the apartment carrying the Bel Air for me. He went in to ask about it and got it for $5.00. It was a real surprise. Is very heavy and rusted but he said he will clean it.

CarrieAnne 06-26-2010 05:44 PM

Oh, cool! I cant wait to see another picture when its all cleaned! What a great deal.

quiltaholic 06-26-2010 06:11 PM

Never heard of it only the car. Looks as old as one, mabey it was a gift for the wife when DH bought the car from the dealer!

I know this is an old thread, but I found it by searching for Bel Air sewing machine. Here's another one for sale, if anyone feels the need to bid on it...

Looks to be in even better condition than the first one. I would look great parked next to my plastic model of a 1956 Red and White Chevy Bel Air!

Oh, I think it would be just fabulous to own a red and white sewing machine! I would put a fan behind it and let it blow the wind through my hair as I sewed on it!!!

wolph33 08-07-2012 03:35 PM

wow-never saw one of those before

SueC56 08-07-2012 04:03 PM

AuntPiggy - that's hilarious!

So far 5 people have placed 7 bids on the sewing machine. Don't think it's going to go cheap.
