Finally got this done. Crow themed quilt for a baby girl was an interesting challenge. The crow on the back is Mr.Crow from Paper Panache. First time I've ever done paper piecing but the pattern was very easy to follow, if fiddly at times.

You seemed to have mastered paper piecing with this crow. He looks so realistic. Love your quilt too!

What a super neat quilt, I love crows, they are so smart! You did an amazing job on this, congratulations on the finish!

Your paper pieced crow looks like it could fly off the quilt, it looks so realistic. You did an amazing job!

wow, how difficult was it to make this reversible, especially with your scalloped-like edges??

What a very beautiful & unique quilt. I love the design of the quilt with the scalloped edges & the back to make it a reversible quilt. Great work on it & I'm sure mom & baby will love it.

For the scalloped edges I just made the back a big square and trimmed it back after quilting. And it's hand quilted rather than machine. The one issue is it's not properly bound. I ran out of fabric trying to figure out how to cover those angles, so I just sewed the edges together like a pillowcase and did a blanket stitch over the lot. It'll be interesting to see how well it holds up. |
This is one of the most beautiful baby quilts I’ve run across. Hopefully used gently and passed down as an heirloom/work of art. Great execution!

A very unique baby quilt. One in a million. Love the creativity.

I have never seen such a lovely quilt for a little girl! Truly a work of art! Is this your original design, or is there a pattern. I am especially interested in the border!
|
A really wow baby quilt. I never would have thought of this theme for sure!
|
What a darling quilt!

A very unique quilt!! It will be forever treasured!!!

Original design. But I did look at a lot of Celtic knot quilts to figure it out, so that's a good place to look for established (and tested!) patterns
