Birthing or binding
Love your quilt. I always like binding on a quilt.

It is beautiful! I don't like the look of the birthing method after I try to quilt it. I can never get my back smooth and end up with puckers. I would bind it. You can look at http://ankastreasures.wordpress.com for her tutorial on binding odd angles for some pointers.

Another vote for binding. Lovely work.

Beautiful!!! Love the colors. I think it would look the best with a binding. I find it hard to keep things flat after birthing, my edges are always wavy.
|
I don't like the birthing method so I always bind!
|
Now that I know what birthing is...lol, I would definitely bind it. Too pretty to have issues.

Don't know enough to help you with your questions, but just want to say "How beautiful!"

Beautiful quilt-I would use bias binding, it will stretch easier around those corners. Not to sound stupid, but what is "birthing"? I haven 't heard that term before.
|
I have no advice for you, but I did want to comment on how beautiful it is.
|
Bind it for sure.

I finished this wall hanging, Sundial by Cheryl Phillips and I'm at a loss at to how to finish it.
It measures 47" across. Is it too large to try "birthing it"? Will I get lots of lumps when quilting it? Any suggestions on how to do this method without lots of lumps? If I bind it, I'm not sure how to do all the small angles. Do you do them the same as corners when doing ordinary binding? Suggestions please! I could also finish it out as a square wall hanging and just sandiwich and quilt and bind but I really like the decagon shape and would like to keep that. Thanks so much for any help! |

Beautiful...

Very, very nice quilt. And thanks for the info on birthing a quilt. I've heard of doing that to a quilt, but had never heard calling it birthing before. I would just bind it as is.
|
I don't know what birthing is. I would quilt it with a thin, stiff stuffing like that cotton-bamboo mix, or maybe just back it with felt. Fold down and stitch the edges with a little felt showing.

WOW - Just beautiful, great job and thank you for sharing, I think I would frame it for a wall hanging
