Birthday Quilt for My Niece
 

My only niece's first birthday was this last weekend. I made her a quilt for the occasion:

The quilt uses a panel from Robert Kaufman's Girl Friends Careers line.


The pattern was only available paired with a kit which was sold out. I contacted craftsy and tried to buy the pattern, but they told me it wasn't available. I ended up figuring out the block measurements and was able to recreate the quilt without the pattern.

The center block on the pattern was dependent on having a square of other fabrics in the line, but I didn't have that, so I winged it with the scraps from the other blocks, subsequently making it my favorite block:

Karamarie, my niece is only 1, so whether or not she appreciated it on her birthday is up for debate. I think the real appreciation will come later when she realizes she has had it since her first birthday as long as it survives!
