Biscuit/Puff Pillow
 

After a recent post on the forum, I was inspired to dip my toes in the biscuit quilt water and make a pillow. I figured if that went ok, I might venture forward with a small biscuit quilt.

I learned a lot doing the pillow and definitely like the look. However, I am not sure what the best way to back and bind a biscuit quilt would be -- The contour dimensions make it hard to determine the actual size, and the edges are difficult to manage.

I didn't realize they had to be backed and bound. I thought you just sewed the biscuits together and then it was done.

That is the way my grandmother did it, but she sewed the biscuits to each other by hand with no real seam allowance showing. I have a 1/4" seam allowance (no raw edges), and to me it would look incomplete that way without a backing. I am interested in hearing what others have done.

Did these in the 70's, cut up panty hose and used one leg in each biscuit. I made a small throw. If you want to back it, I think I would cut a piece of backing that was larger. I'd start in the center and tie it, working my way out. When you were done tying the middle, trim backing to about 1" larger all the way around, turn the edge to the inside & stitch all the way around or bind.

My grandma also used nylon stockings, and everybody in the little town was saving them for her!
