I just finished this last night! I am really pleased with it. This is for our daughter, who is currently working in Haiti for the UN. This will be a piece of home to have with her.

It is twin size. I adapted a bricks pattern for the side panels, and put smaller bricks and her initials down the center. I quilted the three panels separately, by machine and hand, then put them together.

Hope you like looking!

I did some hand quilting around the initials

Hope this shows the zig-zaggy machine stitch I used

All of the fabrics were from JoAnn's, except for the fabric for the joining strips and the binding! I do not usually use grey, but these fabrics just called to me to be joined together!

That was some engineering feat, you did. It looks great.

Beautiful, your Daughter will love it and it will remind her of you and the love in it.

Oh the size is just perfect for her! Not too big to travel with but plenty big to cover up with. All the younger quilters are using this palette.

She is very proud of it. She's shown it to a couple of people, since being back in Haiti, and loves to tell them that her Mom made it!

Beautiful. She will really treasure it. See you have bragging rights.

Our daughter sent along a pic of the quilt on her bed in her 'container' in Haiti.

The cute thing is the stuffed animal that is on her bed as well. You can't see the whole thing, but this is a small bunny, holding a striped egg, that she has had since she was a small girl. Bunny wears a crocheted dress, by yours truly, that is also from long ago -- 25 years, I guess.

When our daughter was in her first year of college, she went through a sad time, so I dug out bunny, washed her up and mended her, and mailed her to college with a note. Bunny has since traveled with our daughter everywhere: San Francisco, Korea, NYC, and now, Haiti!

Quilt, bunny and a cute yellow flowered pillow -- in Port au Prince!
