....mini - ized! Instead of using 40+ strips at 2 1/2" by 40", I used 52 strips at 3/4" by 5". I used 26 different black and white fabrics (can you believe that I had that many different ones?) and a FQ of orange that was a gift from one of my DQ partners. The second border is grey, the binding is pure black.
This was inspired by this month's DQ swap challenge: black and white with a POP of another color. This finished at 10 1/2" by 13". Are some of the seams a little wonky? Yes! |

Great quilt!! Wow -- 3/4" strips!! I don't think I could see what I was doing making 1/4" seams.
Did you do standard 1/4" or did you make the seams smaller? |
Very pretty

Very pretty.

Another beauty by Leslie! I love the pops of orange. This is the 2nd jelly roll quilt I seen with them in as many days. Must be going round. But with yours being in miniature it is much more intriguing!

Did you do standard 1/4" or did you make the seams smaller? I try to do scant 1/4" seams, but as the already sewn seam allowances pile up on the back, sometimes it gets difficult, and the seams get smaller. |
Love the colors! Great looking quilt!
|
I love it!! Beautiful job. Oh your pieces are getting smaller. Are you keeping this one? Like LoriEl says, it is a great Halloween quilt. G

Yes, I think I will keep this one. I have a plan for doing another one. I think the strips need to be a little shorter, and I don't think that I need so many strips, but I'll see. |
Cool! Love the fabrics.

WOW! That looks great!

I've found when downsizing patterns you loose proportion. It doesn't make sense that you would loose proportion because you have mathmatically adjusted everything. It's a visual thing. |
I like it too. Very graphic and striking.

I like your idea of a mini jelly roll-that's just what it is! It has a lot of pop!

I love it! Those are some skinny strips, but the effect is worth it. I really like the way the orange squares seem to dance across the top. Looks like you really stepped up and met the challenge!
