Lovely quilt! Enjoy making the next 4. Nice that you were able to get the fabric on sale and also nice to have a GO!
You missed a breath-taking game, though! It needed overtime...haven't seen that for a long time!

The name of the quilt in the Bakker book is "Optical Illusion".

Just went to amazon to check out book......large price tag!

Is this made up of variegated color strips, then cut with 60* triangle template, thus reversing color order?

I am thinking the quilt pattern is called "Prism".
I remember the original post was from last Winter-Spring? Jan-Feb.? Before March.
Thanks for posting! I forgot I had this on my to do list, pattern crashed with the old laptop.
Very cool pattern and quilts!!

Jo Anne B. 09-23-2014 08:14 AM

There are free patterns available, Just google, Fons and Porter has one.

I bet others reading this thread went to Amazon and snapped up all the less expensive copies. When I posted, there were some around $7 there. The high priced ones are ridiculous; don't pay that! If you can't find the book on eBay, just wait; Amazon will have some used copies at reasonable prices again eventually.

And yes, that is how the quilt is made. You make strip sets going from light to dark, then cut 60" triangles from the strip sets. The strips are cut at 2" wide.

indymta 09-23-2014 03:25 PM

That is one stunning quilt. Great job!

juliea9967 09-23-2014 03:26 PM

Yes it is cut with the 60 degree triangle ruler.

Believe me, the book is not worth $60+!!! Wait long enough and you will see used prices of $7-12 eventually.

Awesome quilt!

gigigray032447 09-24-2014 04:56 AM

This black and white is gorgeous. I made this quilt last winter and posted it on the board. I didn't want to buy a pattern so a friend helped me figure it out. I used 8 strips and cut them 1 3/4 wide. My friend made a simpler design and posted it on her blog http://b-quilts.com/blog/?p=4878

Wanabee Quiltin 09-24-2014 05:01 AM

I tried to find it on Fons and Porter but could not. Do you have a web address?

MamaLinda 09-24-2014 08:19 AM

The Prism pattern on the Fons and Porter freebie page is a different look, very attractive but not the same. Sure hope I can make one (some day) either with browns to beiges or blacks to white. Both so beautiful.

newquilter10 09-24-2014 09:48 AM

Beautiful quilt. I would take forever to make sure each piece is just where it should be. I would be interested in how other colors would like like/

tlpa 09-24-2014 10:02 AM

Just gorgeous. Would love to see the others in different colors when you are done.

Pam S 09-24-2014 12:34 PM
