I am putting up this block so you all can have a good laugh. I hated this block with a passion. I cut the pieces wrong three times and the corners are still the wrong size, but I put them in anyway.

The block ended up being 13X13. I ran out of one of the fabrics and had to improvise.

Well I like your block. Misty

They can be difficult sometimes, can't they. I think it looks great though. :D

patricej 05-18-2007 07:00 PM

i also think it's quite nice. love the colors, mix of fabrics, and as usual youve done a better job than you think you did.

:P

I think it is really pretty. Don't feel bad, I cut this one wrong enough times that I have enough extra pieces to make another whole block... in a totally different pattern   Do not sweat it... we all have our days. You did a great job!

Thanks guys, for all the nice comments, but I am trashing it. I will try to do it again sometime.

patricej 05-19-2007 03:57 AM

don't trash it. put it in your scrap bag if you really don't want to use it in a quilt. someday, those pieces will be just right for something and you'll kick yourself because you ran out of those particular fabrics. i've been taking some previous block attempts apart to use in my BsOM. they've really come in handy.

ceannastahr 05-19-2007 02:40 PM

never trash a block if you don't think its good enough to use in a quilt use for a pot holder or take a few of your I want to throw them outs and make a quilt for a belove pet or a play mat for the kids and /or grandkids

jessiesmom 05-19-2007 03:26 PM

OK,OK, I will keep it and see what I can make with it.

You can always turn them into hot pads. You know how they never last forever anyway, and yet you have something you made. The Warm and Natural Company has a product that has a heat and moisture barrier. Can't remember what it's called right now. Maybe someone else can help there. I know it's available for hot pads and those casserole carriers.

jessiesmom 05-21-2007 05:07 AM

Actually I bought a product like that a while back but never did anything with it, maybe I will make a hot pad out of it. Thanks all

Good idea. I do that with all of my "FMQ warm up" squares. (I use FQ for these) After you fill one up with warm-up stitching, just cut it in half then in half again for very manageable sized pot holders, or cut them to whatever size you want. (I have just squared a couple off for place mats or large hot pads.) Use some of those deco stitches on the machine and they are great quick gifts. They also make good burp OR changing pads for Moms of babies.

So don't throw them away... trash to treasure Dear. :D

I save every piece of scrap. Some day when I have enough I'll make a postage stamp quilt.

Carla P 05-21-2007 08:38 AM

Me too!!!!!!!! I want to do mine in an Impresionistic picture... HA- Like I have the time for it any time soon- but it is a long-term goal. (Will probably HAVE to do it to help pay for some of the college tuition heading our way.)

Debbie Murry 05-21-2007 08:42 AM

I'm going to do mine rangeing in color from dark to light and then to dark again starting in the middle and working my way out. Kinda like a shadow and sunset theme.

Carla P 05-21-2007 08:44 AM

I bet that will be gorgeous!!

CountryMom'sDaughter 07-20-2007 05:17 AM

:P Hi, I'm new to this. I wanted to say that I really do like your block and I can see how easy it would be for me to get it all turned around. I have a problem with that anyway. Did it turn out like the pattern or have you come up with a new pattern?
