Blocks for "Birthday Block" group in Quilting Guild
 

Here are some blocks that I got and made for the " Birthday Block" project in my Quilt Guild. The first 2 pics are of the blocks that I have gotten so far (2 more coming). The solid floral block is the focus fabric they were given. Girls then had to make block using that focus fabric. The 3rd and 4th pic are the blocks I made for this month "birthday girls" What fun this is!!!!!

Like them all, but the light floral is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful blocks! Would you please explain how your birthday block project works? I'm looking for ideas for our guild. Thank you.

Whoever signes up for the project gets a block from other ladies in their birthday month made with their own focus fabric This is a year project. Members sign up for their birthday month(at the beginning of the project so you know how many bags of focus fabric to bring). The month before their birthday the "birthday girl"(BG) bring in a piece of focus fabric to give to all others who signed up. The BG determins what size block she wants and the others make any block of their choice using their own coordinating fabrics. The blocks are then given to the BG at the meeting of her birthday month. I chose the flowers fabric as my focus fabric and I said I wanted a 12" finished block. The ladies made me the beautiful blocks using their own fabric. It is now up to me to make a finished project. I gave a 12" square focus fabric and put it in a small plastic bag with my name and block size I wanted. You can chose any size block you wanted but be sure to give enough focus fabric for the girls to work with. The 2nd and 3rd pic were the focus fabric that I was given and the blocks I chose to make with my fabrics. There were 7 ladies who signed up so I got 6 12"blocks which is enough to make at lease a lap quilt by the time I add my sashing and borders but I can always make it bigger. or a wall hanging would be nice. It is fun to see the blocks made and getting presents for your birthday! Also it is important for anyone to bring their blocks to the BG meeingt to share the fun. If more than 1 birthday in a month then all BG bring in the and you make each their blocks. Questions? (Hope you all understood this)
