Blogging and Hexies!!!

1 Attachment(s)
So I've been working on some hexies for a mosaic type lap quilt or a GFG if that looks better. Here's what I have so far.

I have 13 more fabrics to make into hexies (so that makes 208 left to baste) When everything is said and done there should be 984 basted and ready to make into a pattern. All the fabrics are batik and from charm packs I got awhile back on connecting threads.

I just recently decided to start a blog on google+. Now saying that, I didn't actually expect anyone to read it because, lets face it, how often does one really come across some obscure person and think hey I should read that!!! I figured it would be a good way, on top of here ;), to keep myself accountable and continue making good progress on projects! It's titled " Everyday Quilter" mostly because I haven't seen that title before and I like how it looks in the font I picked out . So I wondered how many of you blog? Do you keep it to just quilting or add your personal stuff to it to? I understand people that do this for a living and using it to network and show customers the things they have or can do. How many of us hobby quilters do it though? What do you think?

I do not blog, but love the quilt board. Get lots of ideas and love to see what people are working on. I am doing a GFG out of 1800's fabric, still have a very long way to go, but love working on it! Yours are going to be beautiful!

Not a blogger myself, nor do I read any regularly either. But I love your hexagons and the colors are so dramatic it should be fun to watch you progress through the quilt. The few blogs I have read seem to discuss the projects the person is working on, as well as, any future projects they are thinking of; plus some family stuff, especially if they have small ones. Kind of like having a conversation over the phone with someone far away, is how I have seen these blogs written.

Love all the colors you are using, it's going to be a fantastic quilt. Keep us updated. I don't blog but I did follow a link yesterday that lead to a couple of pics of hexagon quilts. There was one where the hexagons were arranged to look like butterflies. Bookmarked it to see if I could made it.

What site is it that has the hexies that look like butterflies? If you don't mind me asking. That sounds really neat.

Okay - you lit the fire under my ... feet. I have several bags of the precut hexagons from Keepsake Quilting (which they're not selling any more) and several batik charm packs from Connecting Threads and Secret Sisters gifts that you've spurred me to start preparing for a few projects. I have 1930's and Civil War precut/die cut hexies that'll make some small but nice "somethings," but the batiks will require some more design thought.

I was thinking about buying the hexie papers, but instead purchased the hexagon pop-outs (the hexagon is stiff template material with a hole in the center - you baste the hexagons over the templates and use a chopstick like thing to pop out the template to use a zillion times.

I have a blog and really enjoy writing it. I talk about a lot of things in my life on it, but since most of my life is about quilting, so most of my blog is about quilting! :)

I love seeing where my visitors come from and LOVE it when they leave comments! :)

I say give it a try and have fun with it!

I don't do blogging, but love visiting different blogs. I am totally and utterly addicted to hexies and am currently working on two charm quilts - last count yielded about 2400 hexies. I'm going on a long road trip next week and will definitely be taking the hexies along. Enjoy the hexie life!

earthwalker 04-11-2012 11:53 PM

Beautiful hexies....looks like a treasure trove:) They are very addictive I have a GFG in the works (several years works:)). and am planning a hexie quilt incorporating neckties (I'm collecting just now).

I don't blog, but have stumbled on a couple over the years (mostly quilting and gardening) that I have bookmarked and visit from time to time. Have fun with the hexies and happy blogging.

Hi fellow blogger. I just started my blog a month and a half ago and I use it as my project diary. It's fun. I blog on wordpress. My link is in my signature below. BTW, love your hexies.
