they look wonderful... I just took a feathers class from Ann McNew at MQX in Manchester, NH. I can only hope to get as good as you! Awesome job.

So pretty! And I am intrigued with your "marking" of the spines....Do you sew over the tissue paper?

Yes. I drew the outline of the block I wanted to do the feathers in then drew a curve that looked good. Because the paper is so thin, it was easy to make as many copies as I needed, mirror imaging as required. I used a extra fine sharpie. I loaded the quilt on the frame, then pinned the tissue to the quilt as I got to that area. You can see thru the tissue, so I just matched the outline of the block on the paper to the quilt block. I stitched the curve for the stem & then tore the tissue off. Then went back and added the feathers. My feathers are all over the place, some thin & long, some short & fat (like me!). I think it adds to the charm, and you would never make the mistake to think it was quilted by computer!
