Gosh that is absolutely awesome. Really beautiful. I would get a thread matching the colors in the quilt & if possible follow thru the design. Maybe thru the center of the sqs? Mine usually tal to me as I'm doing them...but this sure is beautiful

It is a much easier technique then I anticipated but my gosh is it ever labor intensive......and thread intensive! (I went through 2 spools) :)
I posted a question earlier asking for advice on a background color because I was afraid my blues would blend in with a black background. I took everyone's advice and carried a color strip of my fabrics shopping and ended up going with a black marbled moda. I decided there was plenty of contrast. I'm thrilled with how this turned out!! Now my questions is.....how do you quilt a bargello. There is so much thread in the quilt top already. What does everyone else do for quilting??? Thanks everyone for looking :) |
Whoa! It's stunning! My 10 yr old said "it looks 3D"....see gotta train 'em early!

It does look 3D and makes a stunning effect to boot. I love it. I'm working up the courage to start a bargello after I finish the stained glass I'm working on to teach for quiltcampus.com. The black background is perfect.....gives it an other-worldly effect.
