I love it!! I am also making a denim quilt for our youngest son, at first I tossed the pockets, then I came across some neat ones, so I stared adding them in, and he loves it, I'm strictly using old jeans for this project, so I'm still not done. Thanks for the pic!

I love your quilt, I'm thinking of making a jean quilt too, never thought of using the pockets-what a great idea!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a question-would you have to use a batting in it? I think it would be heavy enough without, any suggestions?

Nice job. My Mother has made jean quilts for every member of the family. For our children she used Grandma's overalls and our jeans. She embroidered some blocks (she put solids between pockets and zippers) and tied the quilts. All of us love our denim quilts and they are very well used. By the way she also stashed surprises in pockets. Very well received.

When this is done, I am not sure if this should belong here or why you quilt thread. Short version here: I was inspired by a jean quilt in a book called "The Art quilt" by Shaw . It was a denim quilt that was crochet together and was big. It had many Girl Scout patches. I had many Girl Scout patches. It was the time when the rag quilt was getting popular, so I decided to scrap the idea of an eye spy quilt and combined the techniques. I used the novelty fabric on the back and the denim on the front and handsewed my GS patches to the squares.

I have tried and tried to find my inspiration quilt online for a long time and I tried again before I posted this. :) This time I found it here: http://www.allianceforamericanquilts...?kid=14-31-1F4 Now I have the great details about this quilt ....thank you!

Wow! This brought back memories... I have a blue jean quilt just like this one.

I had just graduated from high school ( 1976) and a neighbor came to our house to show us the quilts she was selling. I bought one to take to college with me and used it as my bedspread in my dorm. I liked the pockets on the quilt the best.
The quilt has gone through my 4 years of college, raising 3 kids ( that loved it through many picnics and base ball and football games) and is still being enjoyed today.
