I did this little(30X30) quilt as a demonstration of free motion quilting. I didn’t have much lead time so I pieced asolid green fabric bordered by some unbleached muslin. I had no real plan for what I was going to doso I sketched some leaves with a pencil and outlined them with stitching andthought I would do ‘fill’ stitches as my demonstration. I didn’t like the way they looked (too flat)so I mixed up some very watery acrylic paint and splashed some on theleaves…that was better but still not quite what I had in mind. So I got out mycrayons (yes, the ones we used in kindergarten) and markers and started a‘color as you go’ project. I must admitthat I am pleased with the final outcome.
