After seeing another post about a blue star banner I thought I would share with you guys a quilt that I made about 7 years ago before I was into quilting!!

It was originally made for my first born son to put on his bed. After completing it I decided it was too white for a little boys bed and has been hung on the quilt shelf ever since. Not always in the same house as we have moved 4 times since I made it. Home is where the Marine Corps sends us.

Now that I am really getting into quilting this will be my summer display quilt and whenever my husband is deployed as he is now.

That's a really nice quilt. I agree that it's too white for a little boy's bed and actually think it looks really nice on the wall. I'm sure you smile when you see it because it reminds you of your hubby. :)

Very nice. I love the idea that you "fly" it when your DH is deployed. Did you applique the stars on or how where they done? I've started to look into doing a patriotic quilt.

Love it. I've made a single but love the look of multiple banners. What a great quilt to have made before you were into quilting.

Thank you to YOU for your sacrifice and to YOUR DH for his service!

My DD is in the army and getting ready to deploy to Iraq.

How did you do the blue stars? Are they appliqued?

Just beautiful work! I too love it that you fly it when hubby is deployed.

That quilt looks so very 'crisp and clean' and is beautiful. Thanks for posting.

Well since this was my first quilt:) The stars were individually cut out with a carboard template. The fabric has wonder under under it and then I just stitched them down with a straight stitch.

The quilt has never been washed so I do not know how it will hold up. Fingers crossed if I ever wash it.
