The trip to NYC was so much fun today. We met at Mood and browsed around, did a little shopping, walked to The City Quilter and did a little more shopping, had a great burrito lunch and took the subway to Purl in Soho. Not much shopping there, since the prices were a little out of reality. We visited, talked, talked and talked. Here is a pic at The City Quilter, with our long time friend, Dear Jane

Marcia (Marciacp), Barbara (butterflywing), Maria (Maride) and Alice (ajw) in front of Jane

Such fun! I'm glad you all got to meet up. Thanks for the picture. It's always fun to have a face for people.

THanks for sharing. It is always great to meet up with everyone. Someday I hope to be able to meet the little group here in Pa. Always seems as if the timing for me is bad. Oh, I love your friend Jane

those women seem to be having a very good time. there's altogether too much laughing going on.

wonderful fabric and notions, but next time we have to bring a suitcase full of dollars.

edit: I MISSED SWATCH!!!!! :hunf:

Swatch was a real friendly dog. I got to play with him. I have a Boston terrier and if a stranger wants to pet him is not always easy.

It's so neat to "meet" you all and have you talk about going to places we see and hear about on TV and in books. NYC is like a foreign country to many of us out-of-staters!

Ah, that's Technicolor Jane made by Diane Rode-Schneck and Judy Doenias, two awesome teachers at The City Quilter.

One of the coolest Dear Janes ever made.

I'm glad you all had a wonderful trip to NYC.

Glad you all had fun. I going to try to put together a meet and greet outing with the quilters in our area.

Swatch is adorable :-D

I wanted to thank Maria, Marcia and Barbara for a wonderful day in New York yesterday. I am in awe of your knowledge and talents. Each of you are a true inspiration to me. Please know that when I left you yesterday my mind was spinning with ideas for future projects. Your enthusiasm for this craft is infectious!! :D

I posted this in a thread over in Events:

The Manhattan quilt guild, Empire Quilters, will be having their bi-annual quilt show at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) that same weekend. It's always a fantastic show, with great vendors, and definitely worth the visit.

So if you're planning to come in for the Red&White exhibit, it would be worth your while to stop by the quilt show as well. Make it a weekend. You can generally Priceline great rates even for NYC.

Enjoy your visit to NYC!

I just got the postcard from the armory advertising the Red/White quilt show - it's so graphic. It's going to be an awesome display.

As I said on Barbara's (butterflywing) post, I am Marcia
from the group. I truly had a wonderful time meeting
each of you, Maria, Barbara, and Alice. I came to NYC
with my daughter who came to a conference for her work.
I had Tuesday to keep myself occupied, and saw Maria's
post here on the QB a couple of weeks ago when she said
that she lived in NYC and would be happy to take anyone
around that was in the area. So, I contacted her and then
Barbara and Alice joined us. I can honestly say that this
Texan met 3 wonderful ladies and the day was one of
the highlights of my trip. We had a great time!
(and yes, Swatch is from Project Runway and he was
adorable).

Barbara,
Keep me posted when this will take place and I
just might come back up. Also, we have some
great events here in TX - maybe we could get a
good group together for some of those.

I think Mood would be one great place to visit. I love watching Project Runway when they go there! what fun you ladies must have had!

wesing 12-09-2010 06:39 PM

Great that you gals got together and enjoyed the day. I like the pics, but I cannot look at that picture of Swatch without laughing. He is adorable, and he looks so GUILTY! Like he just ate an entire pie and he's sitting there thinking, "I sure hope they don't realize that pie is missing..."
