Whilst I am making the Sweet Caroline quilt http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...y-t275087.html because there are not too many opportunties to do chain peicing I have been using up my 2" squares to make another quilt, thanks Bonnie :)

I have used her http://quiltville.blogspot.co.uk/201...tern-time.html but made it a Dancing 16 Patch, as I have so many and I want a large quilt. I have also changed the sashing fabric from 1.5" to 2" as the squares are bigger. I am using a sunny yellow fabric as I don't want to use up my white on whites as I need them so much for other quilts that I have in the pipeline, what is your opinions ladies?

Leesewzany 02-02-2016 07:29 AM

My opinion is yes, yes, yes!

franc36 02-02-2016 07:38 AM

I love the way you modified the pattern! I just finished the top of a 100 Patch quilt and have a large box of the 2" squares left over. I may try your modification, if you don"t mind. Thanks for the great idea. Your sunny yellow sashing looks perfect with the blocks.

No problem, there was another reason that I chose the yellow, I don't have many yellows in 2" squares whereas I do have a lot of white and didn't want to see white blocks against white sashing it spoils the crispness of the sashing, if you get my meaning ?!

Tartan 02-02-2016 08:33 AM

I love the sunny yellow with the scrap blocks!

Kathy T. 02-02-2016 08:33 AM

I think yellow is a happy color - will look great!

ManiacQuilter2 02-02-2016 08:42 AM

The yellow is going to brighten up this quilt. Good Luck.

JuneBillie 02-02-2016 08:55 AM

paintmejudy 02-02-2016 08:56 AM

Definitely using your head to adjust the pattern to your needs. I look forward to seeing this sunshine quilt finished.

twinkie 02-03-2016 03:26 AM

Really different pattern. Great looking scrappyl

quilterpurpledog 02-03-2016 03:42 AM

I really like that yellow as sashing in this scrappy quilt. I like the happy feel of scrappy and I think the yellow is perfect.

lindaschipper 02-03-2016 03:56 AM

Bonne loves cheddar orange....I'm sure she'd love your sunshine yellow also. Too many of us, including myself put quilts together with white all the time. Nice to see something "out of the box".

jmoore 02-03-2016 03:59 AM

great idea and I love the yellow! I just familiarized myself with Bonnie's enders/leaders process so a project like yours would be a great project using 2-inch or 2-1/2 inch squares.

QuiltMom2 02-03-2016 04:01 AM

Love it! Happy quilting and show us the end result.

skypony 02-03-2016 04:42 AM

me too. Yes! that looks very nice.

Judith1005 02-03-2016 04:47 AM

I love your changes. And, I love the yellow sashing. It's going to be beautiful and cheerful when you are done.

Kris P 02-03-2016 04:49 AM

Love the yellow. It makes your pieced blocks Pop! I also think your adjustment on the width of the sashing is good choice. Can't wait to see it finished!

Geri B 02-03-2016 06:22 AM

Cool.....I just thought of something....I have a box of Christmas fat quarter size fabric...hmm, maybe if I start now using it as L&Es I could have it by dec? What would be good for the sashing??????? YES..my chore of the day....GO die 2 1/2" squares and that box of fab!!!!! Or thinking more...would 3 1/2" squares be better? What do you think?

tessagin 02-03-2016 06:25 AM

I like it!!!

misseva 02-03-2016 10:42 AM

I too used Bonnie's Dancing 9 Patch and changed it to Dancing 4 Patch. Used yellow for sashing. Gave it to my friend and she absolutely loves it. Very easy quilt to make. Love your quilt. Mine was made out of 2 1/2" squares because that's what I already had cut.

BettyB 02-03-2016 10:46 AM

wildyard 02-03-2016 04:51 PM

Love everything about your quilt. I usually avoided using much yellow until I recently made a yellow comfort quilt and I loved it. I will be using a lot more from now on!!

maryb119 02-03-2016 04:52 PM

Great block! I have a tubby full of scraps that I need to make something from. This may be my next quilt.

#1piecemaker 02-03-2016 04:57 PM

I love your idea. I also have a stash of small pieces of fabric. Thank you for referring me to Bonnie's Dancing Nine pattern. I hope to start on her Alletaire quilt as soon as my sewing area is set up. I also have a large amount of yellow fabric that I might use as quilt backing.

Thank you so much ladies for your supportive comments, for some reason or other I was a bit undecided about the yellow but now I am so chuffed that I used it as it is going to be a much nicer quilt than I originally thought. It is growing quickly as I am making 2 other quilts, Sweet Caroline, which doesn't lend itself to a lot of chain peicing so it was a perfect oportunity to do a leader/ender project with my shoebox of 2" squares. The yellow was a good choice as well because there are a lot of white 2" but not a lot of yellow so it highlights the blocks quite well.

I do think Bonnie Hunters original pattern http://quiltville.blogspot.co.uk/201...tern-time.html lends itself to a lot of different interpretions and sizes, one to remember me thinks :)

matraina 02-04-2016 03:53 PM

I think it looks great!

maryellen2u 02-04-2016 06:38 PM

I think it is lovely and every quilt should have a spot of yellow in it!

sewbizgirl 02-04-2016 07:30 PM

Your blocks look great on yellow!

Nonna Judi 02-06-2016 06:49 AM

The yellow really opens it up. Very bright and sunny.
