I posted pics over the weekend of the tube quilt top I pieced. It was made by making tubes out of 6 strips, then cutting them diagonally...
http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-111038-1.htm
Well, there was very little waste, just a small triangle on each tube end. I couldn't just throw those away! So I trimmed them and connected them into a baby quilt. It turned out about 23" x 34", so I'll add some white borders to make it a tad bigger before quilting it, then bind it with some extra Bliss fabric I have.
I even saved the bits I trimmed when squaring up the blocks, and will have enough to put two scrappy "stripes" across the back of the baby quilt. I love to add a surprise on the back.

Well..... I started making the big tube quilt top from this tute:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5WgTyqB8Pc
I used 32" strips (2.5" wide) and when I cut the tubes I got four blocks for the big quilt, with one leftover triangle (half block) on each end of the tube. I saved those triangles.

Now if you look at the above photo of the baby quilt top, you will see all the big triangles (each contains 6 strips) that I put together. First I had to cut them down to the size of the smallest one-- trimming from the straight grain side. I saved the scrappy trimmings for the stripes I will put on the back. I hope that's clear enough. That's all the instructions there are!

I kind of like the patterning of the baby quilt even better than the big quilt...

(My name is Bonnie, too! ) :-D
