Bookcase Runner Requested by Hubby
 

My husband requested that I make a runner for the top of the bookcase that he put by my piano. He NEVER asks me to make anything, so I was so glad that he liked what I came up with!

I saw a magazine with Christmas quilt decorating ideas and they put a small square quilt diagonally on the bench. I was going to make one this year, but haven't gotten around to it...

Perfect in EVERY way. I bet he was so pleased.

It isn't attached. I just laid the runner on the bookcase. The bookcase was my Grandmother's, so I don't really want to use glue or Velcro.

Ha! The math grinch that sat on my shoulder while I tried to figure out the math had a field da, because math is NOT my strong suit! I finally resorted to graph paper and got real lucky. This is the first project that I have designed, no written pattern, so it was a very pleasant surprise to have it work out fairly well. Hubby is a machinist and a whiz at math, and got a good laugh at how I went about determining what size to make my squares.
