I have finished a quilt for some great friends in China and am not sure what to put on the border. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I like it as is. It's beautiful. I made one similar to it several years ago for my DD.

Beautiful...my colors!....both of them! I don't know how big the first one is, but I think it is fine just like that! Are you going to put it in a box?? And mail it???? like all the way to China?!?!!

Beautiful quilt, no ideas for border quilting.

Beautiful!! Looks finished to me.

Whoops, misread the question. Are you going to machine or hand quilt? Maybe some Chinese characters that mean happiness or good luck (something like that).

I must be missing something . It looks like you have the borders on one a solid ( tone) and what looks like a metalic border.
Opps I must have miss read as well. Maybe go with fans in the border.

Oh I almost forgot to tell you .. I love your quilt!

Very nicely done, love the fabrics :)

I think I like it the way it is now, it is lovely to look at. I just finished one myself. Fun to make. Thanks for sharing.

What about a dragon style whispy pattern for the borders? Love the quilt...what's the pattern you used?

Just do some large stipples or meandering. I would not leave it unquilted, I'm always afraid the batting will break up from using and washing and drying it.
It is beautiful, they will love it.

I wouldn't add a thing.

Jammin' Jane 03-27-2012 10:44 AM

I would finish it by binding it in that maroon fabric. It looks gorgeous!
Make sure you insure it when you mail it! :)

fans in the border sounds good or maybe baptist fan design. lovely quilt.

Great quilt :)

Drop dead gorgeous fabric! As such, I can tell you that any elaborate quilting design will be lost and not show up very much. Because the fabric is such a star in this quilt I would choose an end to end or all over design and let your piecing and that beautiful metallic fabric shine and be the star.
