Bountiful blessings

I finally got the sashings on the blocks to form the quilt top, now on to the borders. I will be adding 1/2 inch tiny teal (it is in the log cabins but for some reason looks blue in pic) then 3 inches of the dark brown then another 1/2 inch teal then 5 inches dark brown and bind it in the coral that is in the log cabins. I haven't decided on backing yet; there is a gorgeous southwest print online that would go so well on sale for $9 yd but even then it would be $50; I could use a wide back in a marbled dark brown and it would be much less; just do not have enough fabric left to do a pieced or clever back to match. Will post a pic when I get it all done (IF ever!) :) Want to thank all of you who have helped along the way but don't abandon me yet as I surmise I will be calling on you yet again. The pic is a little mis-shapen due to position on floor and colors are not quite on. The pot in the lower right hand corner is a copy of a pot in my cupboard that my son-in-laws grandmother hand made in Acoma. Thanks for looking.

Oh, my.

Please send this quilt to me.
Because I really, really, really love it.

Wow.

The blocks, the colors, the sashing blocks (very cool).
Everything.
I love (and want) it all.

I'll send it on after she sends it to me. lol
It really is beautiful.

OMG!! I love it sooo much. Yes, that is an Acoma pot from southern New Mexico. What a beautiful piece of work

I'm next in line. Could it be like a round robin and we pass it around? It belongs in a major quilt show!! We could even chip in for the backing! ;o)

That is very special. Really beautiful.
I know where Brownsville, OR is. Welcome.

How inspiring. But I already have a long bucket list. Can I, too, get on the "send it to me list"????

Thank you all of you for the kind words; no it couldn't be in a major quilt show, my skills are just not that good, this is my first hand turn applique; I agree, the design is beautiful but that credit goes to the designer, Betty Standiferd. I did learn a lot and may attempt making others; am just an outdoor girl for the most part. Thanks again.

Gorgous quilt. I love the Southwest. Makes me homesick for Albuquerque, lived there only 5 yrs, but is more home then any place else. I will wait patiently in line to inherit it.

Well, I for one can't stop looking at it! Uniquely beautiful ...

dilyn 11-15-2012 12:16 PM

Your quilt is stunning!

quilterlois 11-24-2012 11:07 AM

Your quilt is wonderful. I have a wedding pot I bought in 1959 on the reservation north of Albuquerque, can't remember the name. I think its the only thing my girls will fight over when I'm gone.

javin22 11-24-2012 11:09 AM

Wow that sure is different. Beautiful job!

antylu 11-24-2012 11:47 AM

Thanks so much for the compliment! The wedding vase in this one represents the Isleta Pueblo, it is just south of Albuquerque and my SIL is half Isleta and half Acoma; each pot represents a different pueblo and most of them have a bit of history or meaning attatched, I think Betty did a wonderful job of design and research on this pattern. I will be happy when I can get back to working on it after the holiday's; we have Christmas tree farm so will be busy with that and all other holiday things until after. Thanks again. Merry Christmas to all!
