hope this makes sense. Cut 3 dark sq., 2 light sq.. Fold one dark in half wrong sides together. Place this between a light and dark. Sew along the side that contains the folded dark. Then on the opposite end of the folded dark reverse the dark and light and sew this side together. Open up the folded dark, put the dk/lt squares together as if making a 4-square, including the raw edge of the folded dark, mesh the seams tog, open up and press. Wa - la. Pictures say a 1000 words. Last two pics in reverse order, sorry
