Well I was at it again last night and made my 3rd Bow tuck tote, I am loving this pattern it goes together so easy.

This one I decided not to quilt since the fabric was so busy I just sewed a couple of straight lines to set the fusible fleece to the fabric

Beautiful! Why is it called Bow Tuck?

kso 04-29-2010 11:38 AM

Stop! Stop! You're killing me!

kkbrand 04-29-2010 12:04 PM

That is the name of the pattern - it has bows on the side you tie together that tuck the sides in or you can open it for a bigger sized tote.

Kso you need to break down and buy the pattern!

Beautiful.

I started working on mine and am in the process of quilting the lining. I figured I would do that first before the outer portion so I can practice. Can't wait to get it finished. I love yours - great choice of fabric.

Ninnie,
The name of the pattern is called The Bow Tuck Tote. It's probably because each side has a tuck in it, made by tying the bows however tight you want them to be!! Hope this makes sense to you!!
Sulabug,

I really love the fabrics you picked for this one. So pretty. Great job.

Great bag.

kkbrand 04-30-2010 04:09 AM

I really love how easy this pattern is, the quilting takes the most time but it is worth it. This one I did not do as much quilting on and feel that the bag is not as stiff as it could be so the next one I will break down and quilt. My first two are quilted a good amount and it gives the purse some substance to it.

I have made a few changes and find that following the directions is the only way to go! I did however use a 2 1/2 inch strip of fusible fleece for the handles and not the full 5 inch. I fold my fabric in half for the handle and then open it up and fold the side in half to the center fold and then place my fleece in there. Then I fold the whole thing in half again and stitch down both sides and then the center. It is a very sturdy handle. Any more than that and it would be too much for my machine to handle.

cute

RJ 05-05-2010 01:21 PM

I am just in the process of making this for the first time. I just did the handles, and I can see that your way seems a lot easier. I did it the way the directions said---and used my walking foot and it worked fine--but seems rather *puffy* for a handle.

Well, I am off to do some more---hope to get it finished today.
If I do, I will post a picture. Mine won't be as co-ordinated as yours as I am just using what I have in my stash.

kkbrand 05-06-2010 05:17 AM

Hey that works, I love the striped lining fabric that is cute.

Yarn or Fabric 05-06-2010 06:02 AM

RJ I see no mistakes. It looks fantastic. I am so jealous of all your Bow Tuck bags. I really really really need to go buy that pattern!! I'm going to call the local stores and see how much they charge for it and compare to Ebay & online. I like to support local when I can but I definitely will look around ;)

Just wonderful!
