Brain Dead's Japanese Quilt
1 Attachment(s)
Hi lovely ladies, several weeks ago I asked for help with measurements for a quilt I wanted to make from 10' squares of Japanese fabrics I had. Well, here is a picture of the quilt so far. Now I would like your valued opinion as to whether to add a red border on the outside then add a final navy border, or should I just add a navy border? Hope the picture comes through.

I don't have any suggestion on the border since I am never really good at that, but I did want to say that you have a beautiful quilt so far.

Lovely quilt!! I think another red then blue would be awesome. Why don't you lay some of the red then blue next to the quilt & see if you like it? If you do check it out next to the corner blocks 'cause they will look surround or boxed in. Look at it through a camera lens. Then decide what you like. It will be great what ever you decide!:)

I agree with Bev...and I would bind in the red too. You have done beautifully so far, would love to see it finished.

I think the idea of a red then navy border is very good. The only other suggestion I could make is to add a very narrow white flange between the quilt and the red border. I would cut it one inch wide, fold in half (wrong sides together) and then sew in place so that the finished flange is 1/4 inch wide. I also think the red binding would be gorgeous.

I think red then navy and then bind it in red. Lovely quilt BTW!

I agree with Marni! I think binding this quilt in red will really be a nice finish. You did a great job with this quilt. It will be beautiful no matter what colors you choose for the borders! |
In keeping with Japanese style, I would be inclined to put the thin red sashing around the entire quilt and then a wider navy border. You could always break the navy border up with different navy prints if one fabric looks too heavy. Lovely quilt.

Red, then navy, and bind in red!
