I made this bag today. I used a washable sueded fabric from the home decorating section at Joann's. The lining is from my stash - I think it's called Botanica, but don't have any of the selvedge to check.

It's very easy. I enlarged it to 110%, but next time will make it a little larger. I made the strap 24", rather than 20" the pattern called for. I also added fusible fleece to the lining and decor bond to the top section for a little more body. I'm very pleased with how it came out.

The pattern is free, here's the link:

Very cute - the sueded fabric was a good choice for this.

I love the fabric, but it was kind of pain to press. It wanted to stick to the iron, so I had to use a presscloth. But that made it hard to see if I had it lined up correctly. Guess I must have! :)

I downloaded the pattern, but the pattern is nothing compared to yours.

Great job, I love your choice of fabric.

Thanks for sharing!

Ditto to everyones comments, you did a great job and thank-you for sharing the pattern, my youngest has been asking if I could make her a new purse and I think I could handle this one.

great download and thank you.. now if I can just measure up to the neatness and well made bag that you have, by gosh maybe I can actually make them for gifts. Thank you again for the show and tell and the great share.

It is a very easy pattern. The only thing it lacked was more instruction on attaching the strap. I've seen them attached both inside and outside. I liked the look better attaching it inside. I just finished off the ends and sewed on the same line as the topstitching, also about 1/4-3/8" away to make it secure. I also padded the strap with fusible fleece.

Used it today for the 1st time and love it!

I used the pattern with some of my mom's drapery samples. It is a cute, small summer purse. I made the handle about 36 inches so I can where it across my chest and keep my hands free. I enlarged the pattern to make a red, white, and blue purse for my mom. Your purse is great! I agree with your suggestions. Nice job!
