I'm making a flannel rag quilt (throw-sized) for my 8 year old great-nephew. He loves dinosaurs and his favorite color is blue. Pictures of my fabrics are attached. Right now I'm thinking of a random arrangement of 5 inch squares of the first five fabrics and also using the Swirl Dot fabric as the border. I was thinking of fussy cutting just a few squares of the butterfly fabric, but my husband thinks any butterflies at all would make the quilt too "girly"... I like the fabric--maybe because I'm a girl... What do you think?

I would say that some little boys would consider butterflys to be a bit "girly"....you know like flowers...ugh yuck..LOL!

I raised 2 sons and they would not have like the butterflies. Just me, but I would leave them off.

I am all for butterflies however for a boys quilt if it was small tone on tone maybe. I might have to side with you husband (dont' hate me) My husband would say the same thing. It is so hard sorry. Jade

Even though the colors appear to match perfectly I am afraid they just are too girly  I would leave them off, sorry

I think those particular butterflies are too girly. Also I think they don't fit the theme of the quilt which is dinosaurs.
|
I'm gonna say you should ditch the butterfly idea. I would never put butterflies on a boy quilt.
|
No, no butterflies for a boy. :-)
|
Is the background pink? If so, I wouldn't use it. If it is cream it could be iffy.
|
I think it is a little girly too :D:D:D
