Found this one in a book... in pinks. I like blue!

It is a queen size and the binding is done as a wrap-around... the backing comes to the front and is sewn in place. Hand quilted.

I LOVE it!

Gorgeous! It looks very pretty in blues and white. So crisp! I just saw a video demonstration of that binding technique.

What a beautiful, beautiful quilt. What is the name of the block? I like the binding idea. I may try that. Your colors are gorgeous and I sure see why you like the quilt. I do, too.

The pattern is called "Butterflies at the Crossroad"
The book is "The Joy of Quilting" by Joan Hanson and Mary Hickey
published by That Patchwork Place.

It is a great book with over two dozen quilt patterns, clear directions and great illustrations.

Don't you love it when a quilt turns out better than you imagined it!? I sure do!

Just beautiful.. I have learned most quilts turn out better than I ever dreamed they could! guess it comes from our passion.....

Your quilt is lovely. I like the blues and your work looks beautiful. I had not seen this pattern before. Thanks for the info on the book.

Our quilts are truly a labor of love...that's why they are so beautiful.

Mamagus my hubby is color blind too. (Though he won't admit it.) He sees grey and blues as green! :D It's SO much fun when he tries to help me look for coordinating fabrics. NOT !! I never really think to much about it till he informed me one day our geese are GREEN!!! I wish they were! I would make a fortune selling GREEN GEESE!!!! :D

Lisa 02-09-2008 09:34 PM

My father was colour blind too so I knew what I was in for...

But I know what you mean about trying to "help". It is sort of like having a three year old's perspective on quilt design... you just smile and say "That's a nice idea" and then do your own way! Paul's colourblindness is red-green so basically every colour is affected somewhat. He sees yellow as yellow and really likes that one!

Gotta love 'em!

My hubby had me looking all over for his favorite "green" flannel shirt!!! I found out about his color blindness when he finally said "Here it is!" and held up a blue one that was sitting in plain sight! One of my sons bought him a very bright kelly GREEN one for Christmas one year and told him it was BLUE!!!! We tease him to this day about that.

kwiltn 02-10-2008 05:57 PM

Years ago my Mom and Dad were building a house and putting down tiles in a pattern in the kitchen... Green tile, brown tile, etc. Mom came back to the old house to put us to bed but something told her she should go back and check on Dad. There he was taking tiles from which ever box was nearest him, happily smearing adhesive on the tiles and laying them ...brown brown brown green brown green green brown. Mom freaked! Until the day he died he swore that the tiles were all the same colour and Mom was just trying to play a joke on him!

Lois-nounoe 02-11-2008 08:08 PM

I bet he would be a blast at fabric matching too!!!
