Here is my block. I love it and am working on several more for a small quilt. I'm using up fabric so don't have alot of any of my fabric choices for this particular block.

Thank you, Elle! Would you have any objections to my teaching this block to my quilting group in November?

Good work. Let's see some more! I will have to try this one. I have admired it on someone's avatar but I forget who's.

Wow Feathers you did good girl

As for teaching your Group, you do whatever you want, I was taught it 2 weeks ago and I just had to share it with you all. that will make a great quilt.

Please let me see what your Group make. I am so made up that you feel this way.

Elle :D :D

Feathers... I have the instructions printed off, would you like me to scan it and save to a PDF for you to take to your class? I don't mind helping spread the fun :D

Feathers 09-13-2008 03:07 PM

Izy, I'd love the instructions. I just know my quilt group is going to love this block. I've been busy this afternoon but did manage to start my 2nd block. When I have enough to put them together I'll post a "finished" picture of what I make. Thanks for the generous offer of the instructions. I'd love them. Feathers

Elle: This block is so fun. I'm so glad you posted the tutorial.

No problem Feathers. I will do it tomorrow for you :D

Thanks Izy, for that.

Glad that you like it so much. What kind of class do you teach??

Feathers 09-13-2008 04:25 PM

Elle: I belong to a quilt group and each member takes turns teaching the rest of the group a block, or some project each month. This month we learned fabric origami and English Paper Pieced hexagons for a Grandmother's Flower garden. I didn't do too well on the Origami. I'm all big toes for some reason. Did OK with the Hex but I have arthritis and I don't like hand stitching so I may NEVER finish a Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt. Another member taught us all how to make those wonderful fabric bowls; someone else taught thread painting and we've learned how to make many, many different blocks. The group has told me I CANNOT teach another block with curved pieces like Drunkard's Path, Melon-shaped blocks with rounded pieces, applique, etc. I love these blocks but others in the group struggle with them. I LOVE learning new applications and trying new things. I don't always want to repeat the lesson but I like to know how the block or project is made. We have a great bunch of ladies and our skill levels are from newbie to very advanced. I'm intermediate most days, other days I'm a rank beginner!

Feathers 09-13-2008 04:27 PM

Thank you, Izy. I'll take pictures of our group working on the project when we do it.

gcathie 09-13-2008 10:35 PM

That is stunning Feathers......love the flower fabric...I have some just like it....good luck on your class

Butterflyspain 09-14-2008 12:25 AM

Feathers, seems like you have a great group there learning all those tecniques, sounds like our Group. We have a teacher coming to us to learn how to do pictures with thread machining, that should be interesting she says its not difficult, ha ha famous last words. Anyway like you I like to try new tecīs and some I really donīt bother with again, like reverse applique, thought that was a lot about nothing.

Glad you enjoyed this one.

Here's a scan of the instructions for you Feathers as promised :D

Feathers 09-14-2008 07:24 AM

Izy: Thank you for the Exploding Pineapple Pattern. I appreciate your sending it to me. I love all this new technology...you scan it in and attache it to this message and within minutes I have it clear across the world! Wow! Aren't we lucky.

Elle: I told you I had limited fabric for my choice for these first blocks. Ended up with enough fabric for 3 blocks so made it into a table runner. I'm not quite through with the runner but will post as soon as I am.

Yes, we have a really good group of friends who make up our quilt group. We have a great time together and we learn lots from each other.

GKathy: I like the floral fabric, too. I think I've had it a long, long time. Now that I'm making it into something I wish I had the redish color fabric to coordinate with the flowers in the print. That would make a great binding around the tablerunner I made. In my PILES and TUBS of stash, I can't come up with a red/rust fabric to match so will probably go with a green. There's the yellowish/gold flower in the print too but that seems even harder to match soooooo I have a bit of a challenge. The block was easy, the fabric coordinating is what is hard on this piece. When I first started quilting I made everything red/white/blue as I knew those colors went together.......maybe I'd better go back to that!

Think you are doing just great. Looking forward to when you have the time to finish it.

Tecnology is wonderful, glad I got my head round it a long time ago because its wonderful to be able to chat. Just waiting for my Son to come on Skype so that we can have a chat together and its all for nothing, wonderful.

I bet your class like this one.

Butterflyspain 09-14-2008 12:43 PM

Very nice work. Love the embroidery. We kinda do that, only its not every month, so we get to do our own thing for a while. If we getstuck we get help each week.

Thats what I like about the club, great help and made a lot of friends too.

this one was fun too

Butterflyspain 09-14-2008 12:47 PM

Dojo, its really lovely, The Tute I did is not paper piecing. If you look at the Tute you will see a whole new way of doing this tecnique which is very easy.

I love yours though its lovely colours.

DoJo: I love your "bun warmer." Wow...it's sooooo pretty. I have one of these bun warmers and I hate to use it as I'm always afraid some of the butter I smear on the top of my homemade rolls with stain the warmer. Yours is really lovely. Wish I lived near you I'd come to the embroidery classes. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Guys:
Got the tablerunner finished. I love the pattern Elle and will teach my quilty friends your technique at our October meeting. Thank you.

ButterflySpain's Easy Pineapple Block made into a tablerunner.

Izy 09-15-2008 11:41 PM

That looks great Feather, I like how you switched fabrics over for the centre block, this makes more impact :D

reneebobby 09-16-2008 02:43 AM

Very nice love the fabrics na dI really like the bun holder, warmer what ever it's called.

Butterflyspain 09-16-2008 07:38 AM

Well, you made a great job of that table runner, I love it. Think you are going to make a great teacher doing that tecnique. Well done you.

Like Izy I do like the way you have transposed the different colours gives it a bit of a wow factor.

Elle :D :D

Feathers 09-16-2008 08:31 AM

Elle and Izy: Thanks for the comments...the center block had to change because I didn't have enough fabric to do it in the floral. I love the pattern but I think the runner in these fabrics is a bit on the boring side. Not enough contrast but I really wanted to try the pattern. For my October class I'm going to do one in Christmas or Thanksgiving fabric and I think I'll make the blocks a bit smaller to better "fit" my dining room table when I don't have the leaf extention in it. This was a very fun project.

Renee: I like that bun warmer, too. I have a pattern for that somewhere but I never thought about embroidering it. It's really cute.

DoJo: I like your Pineapple Quilt :-)
