Can anyone help me with this BOM layout? Hoping this is the place to ask!
 

My quilting bestie gave me a huge suitcase of scraps and unfinished projects. In amongst the great stuff I found the instructions to a BOM. I have never done one, but I went through my fabrics and made the 12 blocks and the center block but have no idea if I am to add sashing or just what to do. Can anyone give me an idea of how to finish this? I had fun doing it and it was really quick once I cut the fabrics all out!

I would say I think it looks great as it is, but it would also be delightful with sashing like the border around the center block. Oops just realized that's your floor! Anyway it appears to have been designed to have at least a border around the center block. I personally would probably add a narrow sashing between the blocks. Not sure how wide that would make the border around the center have to be. Might just have to play around with it to see what you like.

It's really nice. I agree with mom-6 about the enter block, putting a "frame" around it and then sahing between blocks. Then finish it off with 1 o 2 borders.

I think that flying geese would look nice with these blocks.

I would add sashing at least to the center block, and then a couple of borders, one narrow to frame the quilt and then a wider one. That is so cute I love it and you did an excellant job.

I agree ...that's what I was thinking while looking at it. Flying geese going all around the center block. No sashing on the blocks. Then depending on how large you want it ... experiment with adding a narrow border then perhaps a larger pieced border (piano keys, triangles ... etc).

Also, might suggest moving the tree to the top corner. That way you have "real things" in all four corners and all the other blocks in-between.

That is such a cute sampler. I love how it hints at monthly themes. You do pretty work and you sure got great advise. I love this QB. Also, you reminded me I have a UFO BoM sampler my sister put together that I forgot to add to my "finish this year" list. LoL :)

Lovely BOM. I think the flying geese sound like they would be fitting.

My suggestion would be to move Sam on the lower corner on block to the left (or under the barn). And I would move the bird from the upper corner down one block and get it off the corner. Both of these applique blocks have a lot of background showing feeling "light" while the pieced stars have a "weighterier" feel. Otherwise, it looks good. Workmanship/color selections are very appealing.

I think these changes would provide a better balance. Just my opinion though. Please show us the top or quilt once you have finished.

I think I would do sashing around the blocks also. You did a really good job putting the blocks together.
