I am too stubborn sometimes. I bought some black fabric at my LQS that was defective.... it ripped along the seams where I sewed the borders. So the LQS owner replaced the defective black with moda black (much better) and I replaced the borders.
But, I was too stubborn to take out the black wings and now that the whole thing is quilted..... I have to remove them and replace them. It didn't rip and shred until I washed it..... Live and learn.... I can't believe I did this? What was I thinking? ripped black wings.... awful!! |

I do not envy the task ahead of you, and I feel badly for what happened. I guess saying it could be worse won't help.
pretty though |
OH, that hurts!

Oh dear, I don't envy you!

Is it at all possible to applique something over the top rather than rip it out?

I agree. The ONLY person who will ever really see that is you. I'd find fabrics to match... I would hand applique over it in matching shapes/fabrics. THEN.. I'd attempt to recreate the machine stitching and call it good. It will still be snugly and warm... and unless someone knows what to look for they will never spot the repair. Lastly.. forgive yourself. You shared your experience with us, and we have learned from your mistake. You turned a negative into a positive for many of us. Hugs! Felicia |
