Found these in antique store was wondering id anyone knows anything about them. Says that it is a Sun bonnet girl

For some reason the name "Southern Belle" comes to mind when I look at them. You sometimes see that pattern with an umbrella along with the girl. She may indeed go by Sunbonnet Girl too. Just like today, quilt names change from person to person or different regions that they were made in. It looks like someone's UFO that didn't get finished. How many blocks are done? The one showing looks very nice.

I believe you are correct - there is a book called "Bonnet Ladies" that looks similar to this.

Yes, the pattern looks like "Bonnet Ladies". You are so lucky. Probably from the thirtys. Please post as you finish the blocks. Excited to see them finished!
peace

Me, too! I love all things "Sunbonnet" & 30's so these should really be adorable when you're done.

You sure found yourself a great treasure!

If you Google it, you'll find hundreds of images of Bonnet Girls! I was lucky to come across an old quilt with 48 Bonnet ladies on it! But 3 years ago a friend offered to take it to repair it, haven't seen it since....

That's not nice, I would be looking for the so called friend. A friend wouldn't do that, sounds like someone stole your quilt.

I think they adapted from Southern Bell Sue.

Have a Sunbonnet Sue book that has that pattern. She is holding an umbrella though and she is called the Umbrealla girl.

tedytrser 05-02-2012 04:43 AM

Thanks to everyone. Baloonatic I would be hunting down that low down person that stole your quilt.

#1piecemaker 05-02-2012 04:45 AM

I think my book calls them Colonial ladies. Be sure to finish and post! Looks like a wonderful project!
