Canadas 150th Anniversary
4 Attachment(s)
Hi, I wanted to make a quilt for Canada's 150th anniversary. I bought the center panel with our flag ,a Mountie and the Parliament buildings in Ottawa, from Northcott Fabrics. They have lots of coordinating fabric which I used to add borders and flying geese. Then added log cabin blocks and using designs from embroiderylibrary.com added some of our national wildlife. The backing is historical newsprint. I sent it out to a longarmer just got it back and added hanging sleeve label and binding. I am submitting to hopefully hang at our Guilds quilt show in May

I love your quilt. It is a fine way to express your national pride. The iconic wildlife is a good counterpoint to the panel you started with. The backing and label add to the overall effect. I am sure the quilt show goers will love it.

Fantastic job on that beautiful quilt. I bet a local museum would love to have that.

Really nice job! I have the same large panel and some of the same fabrics. Have an intention to make a quilt but haven't gotten beyond the "thinking " stage!
Good for you to have it completed. |
SoozieQ, I sent a link to your quilt to some of my Canadian friends and they loved it!

That's very very awesome!! Great job and creativity! I bought a few yards of some celebratory fabric put out by Moda I found in our local quilt shop and put together some placemats for my son, nothing as creative as your beautiful quilt.
