Having dinner with a friend tomorrow and she is a survivor........so I thought that I would do a little PP and make her a pin.

Was just about finished and pressed it and (low and behold) there were black marks on it. Can't figure where they came from as the iron isn't old enough to have anything spitting from it.

Dipped it up and down in some sudsy water and they seemed to come out...

Thank goodness......

Here's the results.....

breast cancer pin....2"x3".....

Good morning, Quilter7x, I notice that someone else already gave you the information for the pattern. It is on the Connecting Threads, their free patterns.

pookie ookie put the site in this thread a few posts back...just click and download.

As she mentioned, she has the patriotic pattern which is great for any Mother of a service person.....just a little token for them to say Thanks for their children's service for all of us.

If you like PP, you will have fun with this one.

What a thoughtful idea for you to do that for your friend. I made some small pillows that they could put under their breast while laying on their side. Even though they are survivors they still use the pillows for comfort.

Piedmont Quilter 02-04-2010 05:50 AM

I have that pattern too! Thanks for posting a pic of one done.

jewelps 02-04-2010 08:18 AM

She will love. I am a 8 year survior and have two more surviors in my mini group. I'll have to make them one, thanks.

I'm a six-month survivor. I'd be honored to have a friend make me a pin like that ... honored to have a friend that cared so much about me that she would do something like that! I'm sure she'll love it.

My cancer is rare and doesn't have a color ribbon, so a friend of mine designed one. We even have car magnets! And I adopted the design into the logo for my nonprofit organization, Fighting Cancer, Inc. I'm going to try to post the pic. I bet it would be a fun ribbon to try to do into a quilt ... hmm, I feel a project coming on :)

Cookie64 02-05-2010 07:12 PM

I tried to download the pattern but it wouldn't download or is there any direction to it or just dementions. I have adobe 7

If you want to send me your home address, I will take mine somewhere to get it copied and send them out to you. Don't have a copier her. I won't be home until the 13th but will get it out then.

Going to a quilt show today and leaving in the morning for a cruise.......but as soon as I get home, I can get it out to you if you still can't download it.

Let me know..MJ

Thank you my dear, I just printed it. I actually bought six pink fabrics last night because I want to make a little wall hanging with pink hearts on it for Valentine's Day (I'm not a red person). I bought 1/4 yard of the pinks and only need a 3X3" piece of each for the hearts, so I have plenty left over to make pins with! My mom and sister-in-law, both of whom I love very much, are breast cancer survivors, and I'm monitored closely for it.

YAY for CraftingGrandma and all the others who are survivors! :D
