I've never paper pieced and I do believe I should have chosen something easier for my first venture into this wonderful technique. It sure isn't perfect, but I'm very pleased with the way it turned out. I learned so many things, the hard way; but I also found that I love paper piecing.

I like your choice of colors and the USMC emblem fabric. I will be curious to try this pattern myself. I have done a little PP'ing and thanks to all of you, I think this will be a challenging piece so I am prepared to sweat a little over it. BettyGee, for your first try, I think you did great!

I love it. My son is a Marine, would love to make this, but as a beginner, I've got a bit to go before attempting such a square.

This was my first paper piecing project. It was a challenge, but if you take your time and use Candlequilter's tutorial you could do it. You have to know how much you want to push yourself though and I will admit that there were times when I thought I was the dumbest quilter on the planet.

Nice job! I have only done paper piecing with a Grandmother's Flower Garden pattern and it's still not finished. But I love having something in my hands when "watching" (more like listening) to TV or in the car.

Thank you all for your very kind words. I really love Candlequiter's pattern and for her being so generous in sharing it with us. I have learned a new technique and as I found since I joined this board, this is a place filled with love of quilting and the sharing of love for each other.
