Cargo Duffel
1 Attachment(s)
My oldest DGD goes off to college soon, so I wanted to make her something to carry her stuff. I used a free pattern from http://noodle-head.com/2013/10/cargo...t-kaufman.html and some recycled coordinated decorator cottons for my version. It was a snap to put together with the good directions provided.

Very professional looking. Lovely fabrics too.

That duffle bag looks fantastic. That's the same pattern I've been studying because I want to make one just like that before next spring for a high school graduation gift. Yours turned out so pretty. Now that you've made one do you have any tips, suggestions, pattern changes, deletions, etc. that you would do differently on a second one? Did you use velcro for the front pocket closures instead of snaps? Did you put a lining in yours w/pockets? I know the pattern does not call for lining/interior pockets. I like it because it's not to large & not to small....just about the right size, it seems.

I'm totally impressed! I have a pattern or two for bags but tend to struggle with making them look nice like yours--so jealous!

That's a very sharp looking bag, your GD will be proud to show it off!
Gorgeous bag!
Wonderful bag! But my eyes were looking all around the room behind it and I see... DOLLS! I have dolls in my sewing room too. Would you be willing to post a pic of your doll wall?
your duffel looks great she will love using it
What a wonderful present! She will love those pockets on the front of the bag. I have a purse that has those and they make it so easy to get to a little something in a hurry. Lipstick, keys, receipt.

Awesome bag. Thank you for the link
Great bag, I love making bags and seeing how others make theirs.
When my girls went off to college, I made them several tote bags. The idea was to keep things needed for a class in a tote and be able to grab it quickly! I also made a padded sleeve for their laptops so they could slide it into the bag quickly. (Notice the emphasis on quickly because I knew they would always be running late!). I also made the boys khaki colored messenger bags and they both still use them.
Wanted to add that with kids' tote bags, I make a removable bottom insert (a stiff fabric covered piece). This can be removed to throw the bag in the washer.
Great job on the bag! Also love your sewing area.
Very professional looking bag that will get much use.
That is a great looking bag!
That bag looks great. Congratulations to your DGD, too.
