O.K. I have read all of the posts and no one has asked you about the border. OBVIOUSLY we all LOVE it..so
Where did you get the idea or pattern for the border. I am a new quilter and would have never come up with that idea...but I am stealing it. LOVE IT... Thanks for any info that you posts. |
Gorgeous quilt and I love the colors.

sailsablazing, The border? I needed something else because 48" is too small for an adult lap quilt. Need something? Go to quilterscache. The border was quite simple and went fast - then it was oh, oh time. How to do the corners? Can't miter the braid, can't just do square - the color would bleed all over the place, so I had to encase totally it in the dark brown narrow sashing. Then I still needed to use the pretty batik that looks like my daughter, so it just got slapped on the outside with flowers quilted in it. The stacked coins on the back were because I cut way too many 2 1/2 by 5 1/2 pieces when I was cutting for the braid.
I later found a pattern for a braided quilt and it indicated I should use only three colors. I can see why when I think of how many braids I've done in children's hair, but whatever. Copying is the sincerest form of flattery. PM me if you need help - one beginner helping another. |
Haven't made a Carpenter's Star yet...yours is gorgeous!
