Yesterday I posted a pic of a carpenter's star quilt top that was about 43" square. With encouragement from several of you to make it into a lap quilt or a throw, it is now about 63" x 76 and will make a nice sofa throw after I quilit it. ;)

I started with a carpenter's star and made up this layout as I went along, using only fabrics from my stash. I usually plan things out very carefully before I start, but this was an exercise in creativity for me.

I love being able to bounce ideas around with all of you!

That's a very nice one, good job you did on it.
It would look nice in my front room too.

Wasn't it supposed to look like this? I really like it.

Yes! I'm so glad it's going to be big enough to use on the sofa on these chilly winter nights! And, it's good to have the top finished, now it just needs quilting.

Your quilt is absolute proof that adding more pieced borders around a central medalian makes a spectacular quilt. Your execution is excellent.

Kind of like participating in a Round Robin. You do all the sewing but get the ideas for the "next" border from the Quilting Board. Love how you incorporated your (initial) last border into Flying Geese units for your second quilt version. BTW, quilt is lovely.

paintedquilt 01-01-2011 02:46 PM
