My 2 1/2 year old granddaughter saw this quilt on the floor before I got it put together and she said Nana thats Beautyful is it for me...lol. She was so taken with it that she will have it soon for her new big girl bed. I was making this D9P with some charms that a friend gave me last year just to see what all the excitement was about with this pattern and the fabric was free. My friend told me I put the squares in the wrong direction but she loved the pattern it made...go figure.

Izzy beat me to it... that's the beauty of DP9s ... no right or wrong way to do it!

I love the old fashioned look to these colours... makes me think of very feminine little girls. She's a lucky litle girl!

Shemjo 02-18-2009 07:48 AM

What a bee you tee full Big Girl Bed Quilt! Love the femininity!

Hi,

Your grand daughter will be a very lucky littlegirl. That pattern works great for so many quilts.

Harmony 02-18-2009 09:18 AM

That's one of my favorite lines of fabric--so soft and feminine! Your quilt is beautiful, and your granddaughter is a lucky girl with superb taste!

sewsewquilter 02-18-2009 09:39 AM

There is no right or wrong way with D9P. That is what is so great about it. You can make several of them and they can all look different.

Love it, it's very pretty.

Quilt4u 02-18-2009 09:49 AM

Beautiful.

jacquemoe 02-18-2009 10:00 AM

Isn't it fun when the grandkids like what you are doing? My 3 yr old grandson knows more about my sewing machine than his mom does. Your quilt is beautiful and the colors are great.

littlehud 02-18-2009 06:59 PM

She has good taste. That is a beautiful quilt.

quiltnana 02-19-2009 09:21 AM

Thank you all for the nice comments I appreciate them. The Moda Simplicity is my favorite line too I also have the Simplicity Quilt pattern to do too after I finish my WIP's. Cassie is over today and watching me work on the applique for the borders she wants to take it home today. Not sure Nana is that quick..lol.

Very pretty.

It's great when grown ups compliment your quilts, but 2 1/2, now that's a high opinion right there. She already knows her stuff, probably a future quilter, nana. This nana has a budding quilter too. She hugs fabrics and says she loves them. You can hear the "quilter" in their breathy comments and see the sparkle in their eyes as they lovingly touch the fabrics. Yup, they learn what they live and we're teaching them right. It is such a pretty quilt. I love stories like these. Tell us all about her reaction when it's ready to go home! :D

I have never made a D9P..in fact never heard one one until got on this site, but I just went to a tutorial someone posted here on one right before this thread. In this particular tutorial, it didnt seem as though there was a right or wrong way?? Said make 9 patch, but in four and arrange the way you want? So are there some that are more of a pattern?

Sorry for all the questions...am newbie.

Margie
