Casting Shadows top

2 Attachment(s)
Am working on a quilt that will be a wedding gift for my daughter's friend - in Germany!

This is from the book "Casting Shadows". I've added the filmstrip border. Lots of fun things about this quilt for me
- the shadows - light - dark variations - mean to me the ups and downs that life will bring - how much bright the light becomes after the dark
- there are 42 'shadow' squares - any Douglas Adams fans out there? This is the answer to life, the universe, and everything :)
- the filmstrip signifies all the fun moments that will come for the young couple to cherish

The quilt is awaiting inspiration now (and a little practice time) - haven't decided how I want to quilt it yet.

What a beautiful quilt!! You did a fantastic job on it - hope we get to see it after it's quilted.

Very creative in your thought process behind the design of this quilt. Very colorful, and the white background makes the blocks just pop off. I did a similar shadow effect on a scrappy star quilt from a Judy Martin book.

It's very nice. Are the recipients fans of the hitchhikers guide? You could give them a dolphin on the back.

Oh, I LOVE that idea! Not sure if they are - my daughter is a big fan, the gift is from her. Maybe she should give them a copy of the book with the quilt :)

Like the quilt and like what you said about shadowsin life. So true. I just bought a shadows pattern and now waiting for fabric to arrive, I ordered some batik, so I can get started.

Fabulous quilt. I love the blue and brown color combo. I know the new couple will cherish this quilt for many years.
